コトドリ
コトドリ（琴鳥、学名:Menura novaehollandiae）は、スズメ目コトドリ科に分類される鳥類の一種。
全長オス約100cm、メス約90cm。オスの尾羽が竪琴に似ており、和名の由来となっている。
温帯性多雨林から熱帯多雨林に生息する。地上性で飛ぶことはほとんどなく、飛んでも滑空する程度。昆虫などの無脊椎動物を捕食する。
オスは物まねがとてもうまく、他の鳥や動物の声、物音を真似る。オスは土や落ち葉で塚を作り、求愛時にはその上で物まねをしながら尾羽を広げ、ダンスを行う。木の枝や葉でドーム型の巣を作る。一夫多妻制で、抱卵や育雛はメスのみが行う。巣立ちまでの日数は約6週間。
